My websites
This is my first website. I decided to get into web design after becoming interested in internet marketing. The fact that I spent a lot of time on the internet anyway, and graduating from University and finding good jobs pretty hard, meant I had a desire to do well, and earn some decent money. Naturally I thought I should make the internet work for ME, so I began reading up on internet marketing. It quickly became clear though, that I would be severely limited in making any money if I didn't know how to design websites.
So I bought Dreamweaver and set about learning how to do it. I followed some tutorials from a book, and before long I wanted to make a real site. Having heard of other design students making websites of their portfolio, and having heard from various internet marketing "gurus" that it was really important to register "yourname.com" I set about making this, my first website. I feel this is a success, and it's been a steep learning curve, but I know I have plenty to learn!
For my next site, I am working on a business project with my brother called Communityhost.co.uk, which will provide cheap websites to community centres and sports/social clubs in the UK. The idea is to provide a basic standard template which can be customised by the customer (or by us for a fee) and content added via an ASP.net wizard. The back-end is being programmed by a contractor, I am designing the front-end, and my brother is going to be doing the marketing.
I also have a personal project which is travellerpages.com. At the moment there is nothing there, but I plan it to be a site featuring travel information about destinations around the world (beginning with Europe), and links to travel books and companies like Expedia, so you can book a holiday from my site. This is a very long term project!
onlinemoneynews.com is another little project I have just started. It's a sort of blog site, recommending info products related to internet marketing. Currently it is just a test install of Wordpress, but i'm going to check out Joomla as well.
